VISHAL  SATWARA: THE ACCOUNTING CHA(M)P

Just  as  I  walk  into  yet  another  room  at  Venture  Studio  ,  the  huge ,  similar  looking   space  seems  quite  exceptional  . With minimum   furniture  and  meager  population  it  seems  to  be  reflecting  his  taste ;  Vishal  Satwara  ,  co-founder  and  CEO at  Zybra , an  accounting  startup  gaining  quite  a  momentum  with  his  next-door-guy  personality  captures  my  attention.

Born  and  brought  up  in  the  land  of  diverse  traditions  ,  savouring  “the  haute  cuisine  of  vegetarianism” ,  and  sharpening  his  accounting  mannerisms  throughout ,  this  gujju  chap  wants  to  make  it  big  in  the  accounting  world . “ I want  to  leave  a  mark  in  the  accounting  world.” ,  he  says  with  glittering  eyes.

VISHAL SATWARA ON HIS STARTUP JOURNEY

Business  magazines , DNA  times , and  acute  entrepreneurial  research  is  what  his  teenage  years  were  all  about. While  others  of  his  age  were  busy  riding  bikes  or  having  their  first  “sutta” , this  guy  slogged  to  make  it  big. And  those  were  the  days  when  internet  had  just  started  gaining  popularity  ,  and  the  craze  had  just  begun. Internet  became  his  magic  wand  and  he  went  inside  the  accounting  world  just  to  come  out  with  a  big  treasure. “ There  is  no  substitute  to  hardwork”, hmm…now  I  know  what  that  means.

Young  Vishal  went  on to  pursue  his  CA  and  during  his  articleship  years  he  came  across  the  loopholes  which  the  accountants  as  well  as  the  accounting   softwares   possess .  He  came  up  with  the  solutions ,  tried  and  tested  them  and  finally  aimed  at  building  a  software  and  do  something  on  his  own. That  is  how  Venture  Studio  happened  and  “ZYBRA”  was  born. Not  being  a  techno-savvy  , Vishal  along with  one  of  his  relative  gave  form  to  the  software. And  his  journey is  nothing  short of  a  struggle .From  dropping  a  hot  brick  of  leaving  his  studies  and  beginning  a  startup  on  his  family’s  head  ,  to  making  a  firm  move  with  his  decision ,  to  facing  the  toil  that  came  along with  it  ,  he  has  seen  it  all. ”Age is  just a  number  and  infact  I  consider  being  young  to  be  a  plus  point. You  can  take  more  risks  and  experiment  a  number  of  things.” The  introvert  that  he  is,  networking  skills  seem  to  be  the  biggest  hurdle  in  his  way  and  “Hiring  and  Firing  interns  his  big  mistake. When asked  what  keeps  him  going  in  a  very  humble tone  he  says,”When  you  don’t  have  any  alternative  you  always  resort  to  your  only  option.  You  definitely  give  your  100%  then.”  Food  for  thought!!

When  asked  as  to  what  he  would  like  to  advise  the  start-up  beginners  ,  considering  the  trend  it  has   become , with  every  second  face  wanting  to  begin  one,  he  says ,”Startup  is  about  persistence  and  hardwork.  It  needs  proper  domain  selection  and  staying  firm  on  your  decision. We  tend  to  dream  a  whole  lot  but  when  it  comes  to  execution  it  is  quite  a  game. Also  while  seeing  the  big  picture  we  miss  out  the  little  ingredients.”

So  presently  in  a  team  of  five  ,  “ZYBRA” has  come  a  long  way  and  has  become  quite  a  competent accounting  software. Presently  a  paid  one  ,  ZYBRA  is  available  in  both   android  and  desktop  application. Further  efforts  are  being  made  so  as  to  use  artificial  intelligence (AI) so that  manual  accounting  labour  can  be  reduced. From  taxes   to  FD’s  it  can  help  you  with  any  and  everything.

When   asked  about  the  big  picture, Vishal  humbly  replies, “As  of  now  I  want  to  work. Things  will  fall  into  place  by  themselves  .”  So  that  was  Vishal  Satwara  people  ,  a  down-to-earth  guy  with  ‘sky is  the  limit’  dreams.
